I am an accredited Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist with 20 years of experience working in mental health services. I am a graduate of King's College London, Regents University, Middlesex University (as part of the London Diploma of Sex and Relationship Therapy), Dublin City University, University College Dublin, and City Colleges.
I completed a Doctorate in Psychotherapy at Dublin City University, where I specialised in researching the impact of chemsex on intimate relationships.
My specialty is in Sex and Relationship Therapy. I work with both individuals and couples, so that they may become comfortable in their relationship, sexuality, and exploring what is meaningful for them. I am committed to creating a therapeutic environment where people of all backgrounds, sexualities, and gender identities feel safe, seen, and supported.
Each individual I work with is unique in their personality, needs, and the circumstances which will have led to them seeking therapy. So, while one therapeutic approach may be helpful for a particular client it might prove to be of little value to another. I work in an inclusive and integrative manner with a diploma in in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and a specific interest in Existential Therapy. I also use Attachment Theory, Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Transactional Analysis, all of which I have training in.
Finally, I work in a trauma-informed and trauma-working manner using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a therapy used to help people recover from distressing events and the difficulties they have caused them in their lives.
